How this calculator works
The extra generation ratio is the number of additional attempts per successful output, not a probability that a model fails. For example, a 40% ratio over 20 finished clips means 8 expected extra generations.

Frequently asked questions
Are failed generations always charged?
Not necessarily. Error handling and refunds vary. This calculator models discarded or unsatisfactory paid generations, not provider outages.
Why might I see a fractional expected number of clips?
The estimate is an average over a batch. Whole-generation budgeting separately rounds up to a purchasable number of outputs.
Worked example: how additional attempts change the budget
If 20 finished videos each require a five-second Gen-4.5 generation, the clean project costs 1,200 credits. Adding 40% more generations for creative iteration brings the expected total to 1,680 credits. The extra 480 credits represent iteration budget, not a guaranteed amount that will be wasted.
Creative rework and provider-side technical failures are not the same thing. A service may refund credits for eligible failed jobs, whereas a completed video you choose not to use can still consume credits.
Treat the retry rate as an estimate from your own production history. Track what you actually generate for several projects, then update the percentage rather than relying on an industry-wide assumption.
CreditPilot Lab is an independent tool, not a billing provider. Calculations are estimates and do not replace charges shown in your provider account.
